Sheila Anderson, MA, LMFT

Founder, Therapist, Board Approved Supervisor 

Sheila is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has worked in a number of different settings for the past 17 years. She has worked in private practice providing individual, family and group therapy. She has experience working at drug and alcohol treatment centers, as well as other clinic settings. Sheila has also worked with ARMHS and CTSS providing therapeutic services in client’s homes. She has provided supervision for unlicensed mental health practitioners and is a Minnesota Board Approved Supervisor.

Sheila’s therapeutic approach places a high value on learning coping skills in conjunction with exploring root causes for disruptive mental health symptoms. 

Sheila has experience treating Depression, Anxiety, Personality Disorders, PTSD, and mental health diagnosis that often accompany addiction. She works with adults and teens with diverse backgrounds. Her treatment approaches include DBT (structured skills-based therapy focused on behavior change), CBT (assessing and problem-solving around environmental triggers and reframing thoughts that exacerbate symptoms), Solution-Focused therapy (short-term goal oriented strengths based focus) Motivational Interviewing (focus on client motivation to elicit change), and Family Systems therapy (family relationship dynamics, exploring family function, characteristics, and life cycle).

Sheila earned her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Bethel University, her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from Northwestern University, and Certificate in Post Secondary Teaching from Bethel University. She completed her internship and subsequently served as adjunct faculty at Northwestern University.
